Understanding Import Requirements

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) released a video tutorial demonstrating how to effectively use their Automated Import Reference System (AIRS) tool to find the applicable admissibility requirements for the importation of CFIA regulated products into Canada.

The tutorial shows how to search for import requirements and what information is needed to complete an import declaration.  AIRS generates a “Summary of Requirements” which informs the user of documents required, such as permits, certificates and/or licenses, in addition to any special instructions, conditions or additional information.

Users will have the option to declare their shipment using either OGD PARS/RMD (other government department pre-arrival review system and release on minimum documentation) or IID (integrated import declaration).
